Uber Tubers! That is what we have at Hawkins Springs Farm this year!

All of the pepper seeds for the Hawkins Springs Farm 2011 Season have been planted. This year’s 27 varieties include a nice mix of hot and sweet peppers. All varieties are well suited to Oklahoma weather.

The winter weeks seemed to have “inspired” Greg again – the varieties of vegetables to be grown for the spring and summer season have grown – again. We have several new kinds of carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, gourmet garlic and potatoes. In addition to those new varieties, our gardens will boast shallots, leeks, edamame, and haricots vert for the first time.

As of today, all of the tomato seeds for the Hawkins Springs Farm 2011 Season are planted. We started planting a few plants in mid-January – those were for the tomato plants that Greg was grafting. We proceeded to plant more beginning Feb 20 and finished up today. This years 29 varieties include a nice mix of heirlooms and hybrids. All varieties are well suited to Oklahoma weather.
